What do Corporate Event Planner do Anyways? Our Job Description 101.

Updated: Dec 5, 2024

We've come to a realization, and it's not pretty. Here it is: most people have NO clue what event planners actually do. We get it. Unless someone's your bestie, your spouse, or your therapist, you probably don't have an intimate understanding of their daily grind.

"Ooh, how FUN!" they exclaim, their voices dripping with a mix of envy and pure excitement for what you are about to say next. (Insert internal screaming here.) In full transparency, we love this job. We thrive on creativity, transforming spaces, and yes, sometimes we even get to play (though usually while simultaneously putting out a fire caused by a rogue confetti cannon). But it's not all sunshine and rainbows, people. It's a demanding, multifaceted, and often chaotic profession that requires a unique blend of skills, resilience, and a touch of insanity.

So, for those who still picture us frolicking in a field of peonies, here's a glimpse into the reality of corporate event planning:

  • We're master persuaders:  Convincing a CEO to invest a small fortune in your vision? Child's play.

  • We're presentation ninjas:  Standing before a boardroom full of executives and pitching an idea? Been there, done that, got the PowerPoint slides to prove it.

  • We're expert negotiators:  Herding cats has nothing on bringing together different departments within a corporation and getting them to play nice.

  • We're multi-tasking mavens:  Strategist, visionary, spreadsheet guru, fortune teller, detail-obsessed oracle – we wear all the hats.

  • We're financial wizards:  Budgeting for every possible scenario (including the zombie apocalypse)? We've got you covered.

  • We're not afraid of manual labor:  Hanging décor, climbing ladders in heels, wrestling with unruly tablecloths – we do it all.

  • We're professional problem-solvers:  From broken equipment to last-minute changes, we're always on high alert, ready to tackle any crisis with the grace of a seasoned firefighter.

  • We're masters of the impossible:  Deadlines that seem humanly impossible? We laugh in the face of those deadlines and deliver, no matter the time or day.

  • We're dedicated to the end:  We're the first to arrive, the last to leave, and we often sacrifice our own well-being to ensure the event's success (goodbye, crab cakes, I hardly knew ye).

So, the next time you encounter an event planner, remember this: behind the perfectly curated décor and the seamless execution lies a team of dedicated individuals who has poured their heart and soul (and definitely a few tears) into creating an unforgettable experience.

Bottom line - if you never knew we were on-site then we did our job. Need a team who never quits? Just ask our clients.
